A Nose That Outperforms Every Instrument

Ruger Finds
What Instruments Miss.

A dog's nose is estimated to be 10,000 to 100,000 times more sensitive than a human's. Ruger has been trained specifically to detect the volatile organic compounds produced by active mold growth. He can find mold that is completely hidden behind drywall, under flooring, inside HVAC systems, and in crawl spaces with no visible signs of moisture or damage.

Standard mold testing involves taking air samples or swabbing visible growth. These methods only find mold that is already visible or already in the air. Ruger finds mold at the source, in the exact location it is growing, before it becomes a visible problem. That is a fundamentally different capability.

We are one of the only inspection companies in Utah operating a certified mold detection canine. Ruger can join any home inspection, or be brought in as a standalone service. If he alerts, we follow up with air sampling to confirm and document the findings.

Questions About Ruger

Frequently Asked Questions

Trained and certified mold detection dogs have been shown in independent studies to be highly accurate at locating mold, with accuracy rates comparable to or exceeding air sampling in controlled tests. Ruger has been specifically trained for mold detection and is certified. When he alerts, there is mold.

Yes. This is one of the most valuable things Ruger can do. Mold growing inside a wall cavity produces volatile organic compounds that permeate through drywall. Ruger can detect these compounds and alert to the location of the mold even when there is no visible sign of moisture or damage on the surface.

We document the location and, if air sampling is included in your service, we collect samples at the alert location and from control areas for comparison. Samples go to a certified lab and results come back within three to five business days. If you did not include air sampling, you can add it after the inspection.

Absolutely. Many of our clients add Ruger to their home inspection as a precaution. Mold can be present in any home, and finding it before you close is far better than finding it after. The 25% bundle discount makes it easy to add.

A full K9 assessment of an average home typically takes 45 to 90 minutes depending on the size of the home and the number of areas Ruger needs to work through. When combined with a home inspection, the total time is extended accordingly.

Yes. If you are booking Beau's mold CE class for your brokerage, Ruger can attend in person so your agents can meet him and see how the detection process works. Just let us know when you book.
